Since today’s a national holiday, all of us are at home today.
My office is closed, so I didn’t have to get up early this morning. The Monster’s camp is likewise closed, so there was no real reason to get him going at a “decent” hour.
His plans kind of conflicted with this – he woke up at 5:30 instead of his normal 7 AM wake-up call – but that’s also alright, since there was no real “rush” to get anything else done and he could meander down in the playroom with me while I tried to let R and the wife get some rest. I did have a meeting at 11:30, thankfully over the phone and related to an organization that I’m involved with away from work, but that was something that I figured wasn’t going to be a big problem in the grand scheme.
On the other hand, this is where the problems creep in. As I feared, once the structure of his everyday was removed, so was any semblance of his being able to hold it together without a meltdown.
As I said above, though, we have nothing really pressing to do today. We’re not going to the fireworks since they’re late and the Monster has to go to camp tomorrow, which requires him to go to sleep at a decent hour, and at most we’re going to try to hit the pool and perhaps get some dinner along the way… but all in all, it’s like a Sunday in the middle of the week. I’m only hoping that this isn’t going to throw off tomorrow as well, leading into further problems as we go through the weekend…
